Automobiles and “Accidents”: always together?

Road traffic associated deaths and injuries are predictable and preventable, and cannot be considered “accidents”. The activity will introduce the participants to the concepts on injury prevention, with a focus on impact biomechanics. To this end, participants will be exposed to simple biomechanical experiments illustrating how the injury criteria used by the automotive industry to develop safety systems (seat belts, airbags, etc.) are constructed. The activity will help to understand the main characteristics of crash tests dummies always in parallel to their limitations.
